“What is the EU hiding from voters?” European Parliament Denies Speaking Time on Mass Labour Migration Plan

Strasbourg 03/04/2025 - The European Parliament has refused to grant Patriots for Europe speaking time during the vote on the negotiating mandate for the EU Talent Pool. Despite having formally submitted an objection to this large-scale labour migration initiative by the European Commission, the group was denied the opportunity to explain its position during the plenary session.

The EU Talent Pool is a centralised digital platform intended to match European employers with non-EU workers. Under the Commission’s plan, at least seven million third-country nationals would be brought to Europe by 2030. While Member States would formally retain control, the mechanism is expected to result in a permanent increase in migration, with serious implications for wages, social security systems and societal cohesion.

According to Patriots for Europe, the initiative is not aimed at attracting highly qualified professionals, but at importing large numbers of low-wage workers in sectors such as hospitality, cleaning, logistics and transport. The group warns that this approach primarily benefits multinational corporations seeking to push down wages, and comes at the expense of the eleven million unemployed EU citizens.

Although the group’s request for speaking time was denied, the roll-call vote it requested was approved. This allows citizens to clearly see where each Member of the European Parliament stands on this controversial plan.

Patriots for Europe continues to oppose the EU Talent Pool and underlines that any labour migration must remain nationally controlled, strictly limited, selective and temporary—one that puts the interests of European workers and societies first.
