Patriots for Europe Secures Key Wins on Migration Reform

Strasbourg, 10/02/2026 - Patriots for Europe has delivered a major victory in the European Parliament with the adoption of two landmark texts that mark a turning point in EU migration policy.

The first text introduces the "safe third country" concept, enabling the transfer of asylum seekers to safe countries outside the EU before their applications are even filed, where they will be processed. This provides a concrete mechanism to reduce abuse and relieve pressure on our reception systems.

The second establishes a common list of "safe countries of origin," allowing faster processing of nationals from these countries who do not qualify for political asylum. These reforms will finally give member states the tools to act. While the far left and liberals opposed them on purely ideological grounds, a coalition of reason formed around Patriots for Europe to secure their passage.
