Patriots Demand Plenary Debate on the Provisional Application of the MERCOSUR Agreement – EPP and Left-Liberal Majority Abandon Farmers Again

Brussels, 04/03/2026 - The Patriots requested that this undemocratic decision taken by the Commission on the provisional application of the MERCOSUR agreement be debated during next week’s plenary session of the European Parliament. We strongly condemn the Commission’s decision to push ahead with the agreement while it is supposed to be under judicial review requested by Parliament. Ursula von der Leyen’s move undermines democratic scrutiny and ignores the serious concerns of Europe’s farmers. Decisions that directly affect European agriculture must not be taken over the heads of those who feed Europe. By refusing even to allow a debate, the EPP and the left-liberal majority have once again turned their backs on Europe’s farmers and disrespected the Parliament’s role. The Patriots will continue to stand with the farming community and ensure their voices are heard in Brussels.
