Dansk Folkeparti
The Danish People's Party (Dansk Folkeparti) is a national-conservative party with a clear social profile, founded in 1995 by Pia Kjærsgaard. It grew into one of Europe's most influential right-wing, anti-immigration parties and shaped Danish migration policy for two decades. The party stands for a strict immigration policy, firm law and order, and the protection of Danish culture and traditions. It champions a strong welfare system for those who have built the country – particularly the elderly and veterans – and is widely recognised as the leading voice for animal welfare in Danish politics. The Danish People's Party defends national sovereignty and is critical of transferring powers to the EU, under the principle "More Denmark – less EU." It places special emphasis on rural Denmark and the regions beyond the major cities. In the European Parliament, its members sit with the Patriots for Europe group.
